Anniversaries and a Contest!

On Monday, my hubby and I will celebrate our 35th anniversary. Over the past few months we've been trying to figure out what we want to do, where we want to go, how to celebrate these wonderful years together. Over the past week, we've really been trying to come up with something. So what did we decide on?

Nothing.

At least, not yet. There's no place we want to really go - well, there is, but money, time and the fact that it's travel - which I do not do well - are major issues. So we kind of nixed that for the time being. We'll probably go to a local restaurant for lunch - but, because of dietary restrictions and food allergies, we have to be really careful where we go and what we choose to eat. We rarely go out to restaurants. But there are two small bistros here in town that are pretty good with our issues.

So what should we do? Where should we go? Maybe what it comes down to is, the day isn't so much about going out somewhere and doing something as it is just celebrating that we've been together for 35 wonderful years and that's good enough for us wherever we are and whatever we do.

One thing I know we'll be doing... around 11 p.m. on Monday, will be the annual Perseid meteor shower so we'll be watching the skies as they light up with natural fireworks.

Come celebrate with me. Tell me what you would do to commemorate this day. On Monday, one lucky commenter will win a bag of Wilbur Buds (registered trademark here!) and a download of their choice of one of my books. Please note - chocolate will only be sent to those living in the continental US.

Congrats on your 35th wedding anniversary!!! My husband and I just had our 11th and all we did was go out for dinner. But it is hard when you have little kids to find any time for each other. Hopefully whatever you decide to do you have a whole lot of fun.

Congratulations to you both. I just celebrated 32 years, and we kept it pretty low key. Just drove to the coast and spent the day walking on the beach and picking a casual seafood restaurant for dinner.

Congrats! Wow. 35 years? We're on our 14th and it seems like yesterday. LOL.

To celebrate, hmm. Personally, I'd pop a couple of cornish hens in to roast with some new potatoes, carrots and any other veggies you both like. Pick a pay-per-view movie you both like to watch while dinner's cooking. After dinner take a relaxing shower together
:-) and then have...uh...dessert. And maybe another movie with popcorn.

Or, I'd take hubby out for a nice evening walk to hold hands and just be together.

Whatever you do, hope you have fun!

There are some good suggestions here!

35 years is an amazing accomplishment; even more, to be as in love and good together as you two are. You're an inspiration.

I'm approaching 16, so it's hard to think that far ahead. What about something like doing something like Hershey Gardens or a museum?

I'm always up for a beach or mountain trip. Congrats on 35 years. I made it to 13 and bailed. Liked my heroes better on paper!

Wow...35 years. By now, you and your sweetie can finish each other's sentences, read each other's minds, right? If it were my day, I'd arrange to have a picnic by moonlight...fruits, cheeses, wine with only a candle and fireflies to provide the lighting. Lying on a blanket gazing at the stars and talking about when you first fell in love. Maybe even some old nostaglic tunes from when you met coming from the car parked nearby. Afterwards you could go to a local hotel, relax in a jacuzzi and reflect. I don't like going too far from home either. I love to travel once I go but I'm such a homebody and worry about my pets and just really want to be in my bed. Whatever you do, I hope it's special and you enjoy the day!

Congratulations, Vicky. I vote for staying at home and watching a romantic movie. Casablana, perhaps?

Congratulations to you on your anniversary. My husband and I will be celebrating our 23rd this month. It doesn't matter what we do as long as we are together. I prefer the quiet times just sitting on the couch watching a movie together or in this case, it will probably be the Olympics. lol A special dinner somewhere and that's all I need. That's my suggestion for you, too. No pressure...just a special day spent together.

Congratulations! We just celebrated our fortieth at Christmas. Hmmm. I'm like you. Not traveling. We just spent the evening hanging out. We don't watch tv so we just talked. Had a small dish of ice cream. Looked at some pictures from our wedding. That's about it. We're not really party people, either.

My husband thinks that every important event in our and our family's lives should be celebrated. Like you and your hubby, Vicki, we have had a long and happy marriage. Our son and daughter-in-law are visiting so we have to celebrate by taking them to the Fairmont Empress for dinner tomorrow night. I like celebrating!
